Chrystale Files is a contemporary representational oil painter. Inspired by the natural beauty surrounding her in the Pacific Northwest, her paintings communicate moments of quiet stillness and reflection.
Chrystale’s careful attention to composition, color harmony, and paint handling work to visually communicate her belief that real living is found in the moments and spaces “between.”
“My oil paintings are created over many weeks, using traditional old masters’ techniques consisting of many layers of paint. The top layers are almost exclusively oil, with very little pigment. This method creates rich, luminous colors since light is able to travel through the layers and bounces back to the viewer’s eye.”
“I was born in Seattle and attended the University of Washington. I’ve lived in other states and traveled to several countries, but there is no place in the world like the Pacific Northwest. I love to be outdoors, hiking with friends, running in every weather with our dog, beach-combing for agates, and, of course, painting.”
