Kathryn has been working primarily in relief printmaking for the last couple years. Relief Printing or Linocut Printing is the art of carving artist’s linoleum blocks to create a surface from which prints can be created. Ink is applied to the surface of the block with a brayer (roller) and printmaking paper is applied to the inked surface of the block. Pressure is then applied to the paper either by hand tools or manually with an etching press.

Kathryn is also working in etching (intaglio) printing, which is created by etching into copper plates.

Every limited print edition is designed, carved, or etched, and individually hand-printed in her studio in Tacoma Washington. Some of her prints are also hand-painted with watercolor.
